We found out on Wednesday that Preston's Mission President, President James W. Weipart had passed away after a struggle with cancer. Preston was very close with his mission president and so we made quick plans and drove to San Diego...the next day.

I haven't been to very many funerals but I was incredibly impressed by the spirit of it. We all know that President Weipart is on to a bigger and finer work in the next life and that he is strong and healthy. And what impressed me the most was his wife. "Hermana," as the missionaries all call her, was so composed and greeted all the visitors as they came in and then stayed out the door as they all left and reminisced and thanked them for coming. What a beautiful lady who truly has a testimony of an eternal marriage and eternal life.
This is a picture of all the missionaries that came to San Diego, many driving as many miles as we did to show their love for this man. (This isn't even all of them). They all sang "Called To Serve" in Spanish at the end which brought a tear to every eye.

Afterwards, Sister Wiepart made sure to invite us all to the luncheon where our friend, Ernesto found President's favorite parrot, Jimmy.

And then, since we drove the whole way down there...we thought we would enjoy it and went to the beach with some of Preston's mission buddies.

The Christensens.

Us. Now have been to both the Atlantic and Pacific in one month.

The boys dug a hole. Why? We still don't know.

I like this one. Mind you...this water is FREEZING! More power to you boys.

Six adults + Sand = one incredible sand castle
Notice the little temple in the corner (we put LDS.org in the sand in front of it)

That's my man.

Us again.

The Lemmets.

My favorite picture. Ahhh! To be in San Diego again.

Not to mention a great birthday trip.
Thanks to the Christensens and Lemmets for providing the cake!
1530.7 miles driven - I miss San Diego...but I think I can go without for a bit.

Love San Diego. And warmer weather. And no inversion!
