When I was younger, I always figured that I would be the type of person that would go through life and just make new friends each place I went. I am quite the independent person and I have a great family. It didn't seem like I would stick with that "one close friend" forever.
Yet, in 2003, I went to a leadership conference called HOBY and met a girl that I will forever call my best 'girl'friend. That week we found that we had much in common; each of us had two girls and four boys in our families, played the exact same sports in high school (against each other), liked to wear green shirts, both had the same beliefs and standards, etc.
After that, we became great pen pals and stayed in touch. I found myself in Nephi, Utah on Hali's doorstep to spend the weekend for the Ute Stampede. I remember thinking to myself, "What am I doing here? I hardly even know this girl. Heck, I've never met her family." Yet, even from that first weekend there, I found that I LOVED her family and always felt like I fit right in. (HECK, I even went on my first date in Nephi).
Well, we went to college together at SUU, did Ambassadors, roomed together in a spiffy apartment, and had way too much fun. This is a picture of our first day of school at college.

Not too long after, Hali graduated (smarty pants) and left me behind. She moved up north and yet again, this dear friend of mine and I were miles apart and yet still took care of eachother.
Hali and I have been through so much since. She was heaven-sent during my wedding, helping me get ready for my bridal pictures, taking care of me during the big day (literally), staying up late hours, and waking up early. She has been there 100% of the way and has always supported me through thick and thin.
Now every year (since we are old and mature and have money), we take a trip with just the two of us. Last year, we went to Miss America and watched our friend compete in Las Vegas. This year, we went to Chicago and had the time of our lives.

Um... you can't write stuff like that. [Tear]
How I love you Cakers ;-). [Who else would put up with me?!] You are the best, and I'm so grateful for our friendship.
Hang in there. Call anytime. I'm always here [and there's always ice cream ;-)]. Loves!
