Lil' Carl decided that he wanted to be a little Irish boy and made his way into this world today, March 17. I started having contractions March 16, but they weren't coming consistent enough or strong enough for me to be too worried. So I went to work and worked a night shift. No biggy eh?
Well, throughout the shift, the contractions started getting closer together and harder and I began to realize that this little guy was going to be showing up soon.
By the end of the shift, the contractions were coming about every 5-7 minutes, but I wanted to get some sleep so I thought I'd go home and try to sleep through them. Nope...not going to happen. They were so strong and hard that I began to cry with each contraction and I think I was scaring Preston...who was wide awake now.
So we went right back to the hospital around 9:00am and they put us in triage. The scariest part of the whole day. I was dilated to a 3, 90% effaced and cringing at all ends with each contraction. An hour later, only a 3+. Oh boy. Well, our nurse pulled through for us and the doctor admitted us and said, if he didn't progress, we'd induce!
Ten minutes later, epidural.
Twenty minutes later, doctor broke my water.
An hour and a half later...dilated to 6.
Two hours later...complete and ready to rumble.
The only problem was that he was posterior and that could lengthen the amount of pushing and the damage to me!
However, we rested and descended for a bit waiting for the doctor and pushed for an hour...and he was here!
Our perfect little boy with a goose-egg.

I'm so fortunate to have such a wonderful, perfect little boy. It has been an incredible day and even though I have now been awake for 31 hours straight, it's been completely worth it. I love you Carl. Welcome to this world.
