Occasionally, we will have an ornery child who cries out loud even though he's been fed, changed, and burped. Yep, you thought he was perfect, but I am here to tell you that there are days when he just isn't too happy.
Caytee's solution: cuddle and hold close and put that soothie back in his mouth.
Preston's solution: take off all the blanket and sit him up, like this:

And it seems that he prefers Preston's methods. I guess our guy is just a little independent.
Thus the time we found him with this in his hand.

Or the day that I found him in my laundry...what am I going to do when this little guy turns 16?The other day...Carl's cousins, Brady and Landon came over for a visit. They adore Baby Carl and spoil him with lots of kisses and loves. While everyone else was playing outside, Brady came in for a visit. Carl was starting to fall asleep in the swing and I was nearby in the bathroom getting ready for the day. Next, I heard the conversation between Brady and Carl.
Brady: "Do you know who I am Baby Carl?"
Carl: grunt
Brady: "Oh you do? Do you know my brother, Landon?"
Carl: grunt
Brady: "Oh well, you should meet him sometime. Are you getting sleepy Baby Carl?
Carl: grunt
Brady: "Well just close your eyes and have a dream. But don't have nightmares, because nightmares give you....nightmares."
This continued back and forth for several minutes and I was amazed at how well Carl responded to Brady. He would grunt or coo right at the right moment and Brady told me later that he knows Baby Talk. How adorable is that?
And last but not least, I found lil' Carl and Grandpa asleep on the rocking chair after Grandpa got home from work. I think secretly he comes home a little bit early just so he can check on Carl. They make quite the pair.

That kid is already a mover and a shaker! If you could just get him to do the laundry instead of hold the remote control, and don't let him get started on the diet Coke! What great little cousins he has in Brady and Landon.... Love you.
