We have officially hit the road and are off to our new home...across the country. Little Carl has been doing great in the backseat thanks to his "ball," coloring book and...
movies. When we first started going, the movies we had on the iPad were only playing the sound effects. Needless to say, it didn't keep his attention too long. Thank you gas station in Nebraska that had a FM transmitter for our computer. You saved us a lot of havoc.
Our first state... Wyoming. Oh boy! If you are driving along I-80 and are looking for things to do...drive as fast as you possibly can through this state. You won't find much. And you would think that I would have more appreciation for it considering I did my State Project on it in 5th grade...sorry.

Nebraska! The roads were getting a little more hilly, and there was definitely more to look at. But best of all was going to see our good friends, the Carters!

Carl finally got to meet his friend, Charlotte, who is a doll if I do say so myself. Oh, and this was about the only picture we were able to take before they were off doing their own things. They make a cute pair eh?
Then came Iowa. Lots and lots of cornfields. Oh, and for those of you who know me all to well, I just want you to know that I hadn't fallen asleep at all (even due to the mundane view).

After, that we drove into Illinois. WARNING: Toll roads stink! Royally. Whoever came up with that brilliant plan is ridiculous.

We stayed in Downers Grove right next to this memorable place:
This was the mission office for the Illinois Chicago Mission where I spent a lot of time when I was 9-12 years old. It looks a lot the same.
And that night, we all went out to eat at Giordano's. The best Chicago style pizza place! Hmm.... I mean, let's be honest. Who can have too much cheese?
This lovely home was my home way back in the the late 90's. It looks a lot different from the outside but still looks like the Home Sweet Home that I remember! It was so fun to drive down memory lane, but in the same sense, it has been over a decade since I lived here and SO MUCH has changed. It was really hard to remember it!

Next came Indiana. Now it's starting to get greener!

Now we have made it to Ohio! It is beautiful here. It's green everywhere and the trees are so tall and thick. We decided to go for a walk as a family and just enjoy the quiet streets and take in all the beautiful homes. Tomorrow, we are going to meet with the company that Preston will be working for this summer and get a tour of their headquarters. Then on the road again.... I just can't wait to get on the road again!

Charlotte has devilish eyes and looks TINY next to Carl! They would be a cute couple, if only Carl would accept Charlotte's advances. We're so glad we got to see you guys! Happy that you are surviving your road trip and that you are ALMOST THERE!
I'm glad you made it to Ohio! Good luck with the rest of the trip!
Too bad you didn't stop and stay with us in Missouri! Glad your trip went well!
Love the pic of Charlotte and Carl. Hope you make it the rest of the way safely!
You're almost there! Can't wait to trek to see you! (I'm coming in a plane though, k?) :-)
Drive safe and call me when you finally get there! LOVES!
