Onion Days 5K

Before I start, it should be noted that a "Cox" is not a natural runner. [period]
Cox (n.) 1. Not a natural runner. (see?)
I'd like to say that it takes us a lot of will-power and (more so) mind-power to take on a race. Or maybe that is just my excuse for now being horribly out of shape. Seriously.
Well, with that off my shoulders...
Now there was a day and a time that I was a more avid runner. In fact, in 2007, I signed up for my first marathon and trained diligently from Parowan to Cedar and Cedar to Parowan. Yea, I was looking good! Then, last year, I signed up for that marathon again, thinking that it would "get me back in shape" after the little man was born. October 2010, St. George, Utah = seven month post baby = Caytee not in any kind shape to run a marathon. So...naturally, I ran it! I would like to report that I did finish that marathon with a lot of mental power, extreme heat exhaustion, and befriending many 80 year old men in the back of the race.
So one year later, I don't understand why I am still finding it hard to find motivation to jump on my treadmill and run in one spot for any extended period of time.
However, the Cox family tradition indicates participation in the annual Payson Onion Days 5/10K.

Yea, that's us.
We basically run the race for the shirt. You know how it is.
I decided to exceed my expectations this year and run/walk (probably mostly walk) with my nephews to the finish! We rock. Not to compete with previous races, I think I got 167th overall. Booyaw!
Oh, but if that doesn't tell you enough about our grand family and our newly developed roots in Utah Valley, then maybe the fact that my mother won a throwing hatchet after the race will tell you a little more.

Awesome. Hillarious.
Mom that hatchet should be engraved and buried with you. That is, if Jon and Ellie don't steal it first.
What did I learn from this whole experience?
I need to dust off that treadmill or running stroller and bite the dust. I'm sure that my ridiculously pricey running shoes would appreciate the use.
I need to learn how to use a throwing hatchet.
