We discovered a wonderful place not too far from our new home called Butler's Orchard. It is HUGE and offers fresh fruit and vegetables in season for you to pick and buy. Mmmm...
Well, in Maryland, it's blueberry season and so we decided to venture out one Saturday to check it out. What a wonderful time! We parked our car, and hopped on a tractor which Carl LOVED! The tractor took us all out to the blueberry bushes and cherry trees.
Now we are from Utah and actually had never seen a blueberry plant before so we were trying to figure out what these little bushes were as we pulled up to them.
Carl loved it! To be honest, I think he ate more than he actually picked, which was only more reassuring for me. I think I bought twice as much since I realized that my little guy loved fresh blueberries.
When we were done picking, we paid for our berries and headed to the park. They had little pedal tractors and playgrounds...
But Preston and Carl's favorite part was the big slides! You had to ride on a gunnie sack as you went through a colvert. Our own little Alpine Slide. ;)
Carl loved the playground and still asks to go to the "tractor" whenever I refer to the park now.
The best part about the whole trip (for me) was the delicious goodies that we had when we got home. We made Blueberry Coffee Cake for Preston for Father's Day, then blueberry/apple cobbler later that week, and we have been eating fresh blueberries ever since. Mmmm... We will certainly be going back for more fresh goodies.
