Sign me up for the Navy

So...I got an email at work not too long ago stating that they needed one more NICU nurse to go on a humanitarian trip through 7 countries in the Caribbean, Central and South America. It is a project sponsored by the LDS church partnering with the U.S. Navy for the first time ever. It is practically a hospital ship that can hold 1,000 beds! Great eh?
Well I was too late to respond and missed my chance (another nurse in our unit is going though!)...but I received another, more fascinating email from a friend in the NICU today!
This is another ship going to the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Samoa throughout the summer providing medical assistance/training and other humanitarian aid to these countries. They said, the ship the Navy is using is small and much older (than the other ship used on the previous mission), and is very basic. Life will be difficult, space will be tight, many ladders and will be not particularly comfortable. Only the most fit individuals need to consider this mission. Land housing in tents with mosquito nets in the hot and humid air. All volunteer. ---although the church flies you out and the Navy pays for room and food on the ship---
What did I do? Emailed her immediately and said, "SIGN ME UP!"
Well, I got an email from her today, and it looks like I was just short. If I had one more qualification (certification), I could have made it!!! AAAHHH! Although, I get to be on their mailing list now and hopefully I will be able to join another trip later.
I love our church!

Caytee you are such a super fantastic person! I was reading the description and thinking man I wouldn't want to do that, but you immediately volunteer. You are such a good example to me!

You know what's funny!? Our really good family friend (Dr. Susan Puls)is in charge of that trip; she sent me the same e-mail! You could go as a non-medical volunteer. If you want my e-mail, let me know!
