Today was a day of fun with Carl’s Auntie Em! We drove down these beautiful roads to her home where the leaves are already out and almost completely cover the highway.
We drove down these roads (with a slight anxiety attack) and saw from a distance the Washington monument, and the Pentagon. Then we arrived at Emily beautiful home and picked her up to go to the Nationals game.
We took the metro…
Which Carl loved!!! Most of all, I think he loved it because he could travel without being in a carseat, and he could flirt with all the ladies he wanted. It’s amazing to me how you could be sitting shoulder to shoulder with someone and you do everything you can to not make eye contact or say anything to one another. YET, with that being said, the moment you have a child in your arms, it brings on the complete opposite reaction. People drop their headphones, talk to him, and basically do everything they can to get his attention.
Then we made it to the Nationals game!
This is the Major League baseball team for DC. Their field was beautiful, the stadium was great, but the team isn’t all that great. However, they played the Giants and so it made for a fun game!
I do wish that I would have gotten tickets closer to this though. It was a race between four different past presidents (AKA men that looked drunkard with bobble heads of each of the President’s on them). It was hilarious to watch as they would try to use their heads to get ahead of one another but just ended up falling over themselves. AWE-SOME!
Carl has definitely warmed up to his aunt again and basically fell asleep in her arms at the game. I love this picture of them at the game!
After the game we made it home (although I nearly had a heart attack trying to keep myself from taking the wrong roads-I think I’ll get used to it someday).
Sunday we went to church at our new ward and were so welcomed. Our ward includes almost all of Gaithersburg and includes a wide variety of people, including a lot of French-speaking people. We even had an adorable couple invite us to their home after church for dinner. And let’s be honest, their meal was far better than anything I was going to be making from our barren pantry. Ü We feel so fortunate for all that we have and for the opportunities that have come upon us.
On Monday, Carl and I headed out for Emily’s house again and we decorated cakes! Woohoo!! By the end of the summer, I am hoping to be as good as Emily at making these cute cakes. She wanted to make them for her NICU March of Dime’s bake sale fundraiser. Her friend Beth (also a NICU nurse) and her cute son, Jackson came along as well. So while the boys were playing…
we decorated three cakes: one March of Dime's looking cake,
one boy cake,
And a girl cake!
I think they turned out super cute if I do say so myself!
