New favorite! Well, I have lots of favorites, but this is definitely one of them. What other place can I go and see…

The original flag that was made by Mary Pickersgill that was hung and seen by Francis Scott Key when he was inspired to write “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Martha Washington’s dress and
Michelle Obama’s dress (her’s and Nancy Reagan’s were my favorite)
A statue with George Washington’s shirt off
Jefferson’s Peace Medal given out during the Lewis and Clark Expedition
Andrew Jackson’s original uniform and weapons
A piece of the Berlin Wall
A piece of the Twin Towers that fell on September 11, 2001. I still remember that day and going to school and noticing that all the televisions were on in each classroom. I finally realized what was occurring when I sat down for my first class in Biology as we sat and watched the news all during class. Do you still remember what you were doing when you found out?
An original warship (The Philadelphia) that was used during the American War of Independence
Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz
Julia Child’s Kitchen
C3PO from Star Wars, Edison’s Light Bulb, Kermit the Frog, Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Microphone, the Greensboro Lunch Counter, and Thomas Jefferson’s Desk. So many incredible parts of our history!
And so much more. We spent almost an entire day there and kept saying that if we had more time we would go back and read more or watch more of the movies. We learned so much, it was almost information overload, but so intriguing. Our favorites were the “Price of Freedom” where they went through each war of our American history and the “Star Spangled Banner” display, where they told the story about the writing of the song and the inspiration and then showed the actual flag.
Have I mentioned lately that I am proud to be and American? Truly, I am.
