Jon, Carl and I were able to go to Salisbury, MD to see our cousins and their children. He is working as a professor at the Salisbury University. We drove across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to get to their home. That was exciting in itself. It is a bridge that is 4.3 miles long and was absolutely gorgeous!
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to link up with Matt because he was in charge of a Science Camp at the University, but Heather and the kids took us on an adventure to the Assateague Beach.
So fun. They kept telling us about the "wild horses" and the sandy beaches. Nothing could describe it until we got there though. Especially since we are right smack in the middle of a heat wave and the beach was heavenly.
The kids loved the waves and would beg Jon to take them out into the waves over and over again.
Even Carl would crawl up into the waves and squeal every time they came up to his belly. And he loved the sand too...if you couldn't tell.
We buried K & W.
And Jon... although we found some seaweed to represent his chest hair too!
And then we drove past the wild horses. We drove over to Ocean City after that and said "hello" to the Atlantic Ocean and then we drove to Matt and Heather's beautiful home. What a joy it was to spend time with them while we were in Maryland. I hadn't seen their children in years and they are so grown and mature now. We had such a great day with them!
