Well, we have good news to share with one and all. But first, I want to brag about my husband a wee bit.
Preston is finishing his degree in Landscape Management at BYU with a minor in Business this coming May. I won't by shy about it when I say that he is the top of his class and has been highly recruited.
He was mentioned specifically by name and talked about for about 15 minutes by the key note speaker at the PLANET conference (main conference in his industry), last year because of his professionalism.
I received a phone call from his professor (who first called his family's home and had to give them credible information before they gave them my number). His professor began to rant and rave about the incredible student Preston was and told me that he saw so much potential in him. In fact, he wanted to know if he'd ever had any interest in being a professor. Hmm....we'll see about that.
He has been doing research and presented it at a conference recently about the seeding rate and mowing heights affects on Kentucky Bluegrass. Yea, don't ask me much more than that. All I know is that occasionally he brings home a bunch of grass and we sit and watch movies and count strands. I'm not really going to miss that part.
He has been flown out to several companies and given first hand experience as to what they had to offer him.
He recently received a scholarship that many people from all over the nation applied for that means that he doesn't have to use the Caytee Wankier scholarship next semester. Yippee!
And then, to top it all off, he received three job offers in the same week!
The first one was with Valley Crest in San Jose, California.
The second one was with Heads Up in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
And the third was with Davey in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
To be quite honest, we were completely open to all of the companies. They were all very competitive in the industry and we were positive that Preston would have a lot to offer.
In fact, we were prepared for a very hard decision until Davey made their offer. Let's just say, they have never offered a graduate this position before and it would put Preston about 4-5 years ahead. So, it ended up being quite an easy decision for us! We are so excited to announce that we will be going back to Maryland come May!
A special thanks to George, Mark and John from Davey for seeing the potential that I see every day in my wonderful husband. I know that he will be successful in any opportunity that he is given and will give it his full heart. We are looking forward to this new adventure ahead and all that it may entail!
I love you Preston!
